This is where we’re spending our Fourth of July weekend.  We’re visiting Ryan’s parents at their family farm… We got to this desolate little spot on the map around 11:00, after spending 7 or so hours in the car (Chicago traffic’s a bitch).   I bet you can guess what i’ll be doing.  Not much that involves the internet.  I’ll probably be hiking around the property, checking out the garden, feeding the cows, fishing, lighting and watching fireworks… Oh and eating some BBQ.  Should be a great, relaxing weekend in the country…
Today, I was able to run to the city for the day to see my parents, but i’ll be back in the country bright and early tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July!

I have always been a shoe collector and have found a way to lessen the pain of the cost is to think of what I paid for each shoe and not as a pair.

Liz (this woman is a genius!) (via emphasisadded)

I love this… I may use this as my new rule when telling my husband how much my shoes were.  I’ll just say $100.  He won’t know that was the price for one.  I’ll just fail to mention the price of the other shoe.

Ozarks

bowlsby said:

We just booked a weekend in the Ozarks, so here is the questions.

What do we need to do, where do we need to go, how expensive? etc….

Aliexplainsitall, you’re a mizzou grad, correct? I’m looking to you on this.

Yep, I’m a Mizzou grad and I’ve spent many long weekends down at the Lake of the Ozarks.  It’s fairly cheap, depending on how much you spend on booze, but compared to Chicago, the drink prices at the lake are a steal.  We’ve always stayed at my friends house, so I’m not sure about hotels and resorts down there.  As far as bars, it’s been a while since i’ve been down there and won’t get back until Labor Day, but I would definitely suggest the Horny Toad and Toad Cove (always a Lake of the Ozarks staple), Topsiders, Dog Days (my friend recommended this as a fun, low key alternative to a club and it’s close to Party Cove), Dockknockers is a fun restaurant for the day.

Check out this website for some more options.

Hope this helps and you have a good time!

I'm not sure how I feel about the coffee delivery guy calling me "babe"

or giving me his cell phone number “just in case I need it.”

Trust me I won’t.

Sister Hazel fan = Hazel Nut

Dear aliexplainsitall,

I think you may be a Hazel Nut, so I’m curious, are you also a fan of the Pat McGee Band? Please say you are …

Hope you are having an excellent Monday.

I probably wouldn’t consider myself a “Hazel Nut” (I hadn’t even heard of these hard core fans until I saw a few girls wearing homemade “Hazel Nut” T-shirts at the concert the other night), but i’m definitely a fan.

I haven’t listened much to the Pat McGee Band, but your post inspired me to listen to more of their music… and I must say i’m already a fan.  Great stuff.  I may have to go to his concert at the zoo in a few weeks.

Thanks for turning me on to some new tunes!
